Description: An overview of the advisory services section.

Purpose: Helps advisory services understand how to navigate effectively.

Advisory Services

Advisory services play a critical role in helping companies navigate the federal ecosystem, which is why FedRAMP will start listing advisory services in the FedRAMP Marketplace in 2026.

This section explains how advisory services can get support from FedRAMP and the rules for listing on the FedRAMP Marketplace.

Advisory services are not independent assessment services!

The same company may provide both advisory services and independent assessment services, but must take care to clearly specify which capacity they are acting under at all times while participating in the FedRAMP Certification process.

Independent assessment services are required to actually perform assessments in the Consolidated Rules for 2026, and companies should beware of advisory service companies that advertise themselves as independent assessment services without actually performing the required assessments.
